ORNAMENT for CRT monitors and mirrors is a series of site-specific video installations in which the video element Linement is reflected technically (two video files) and optically (mirrors) to form at the eye level an infinite dynamic line.
In the concept of ornament I see nothing decorative, but only an infinite multiplication of the abstract. The word ornament is co-sounding and co-significant with: monument, document, transcendent. An ornament is a form of documentation of the sensation of time and space.
An ornamental frieze, based on the repetition of the same element, is like an unfolded film. And I consider the archaic ornament to be the first ever video, a special phenomenon that has a meaning of its own.
Landscape is also an ornament. The landscape is built upon a one single line, the horizon line. And my ORNAMENT is such a landscape within a building, which opens up the architectural space to another dimension.
